Sandra Henry (Lewis) is from British Columbia and has lived in Ontario now for over 25 years. She studied at Dundas Valley School of Art before completing her training at McMaster University. She divides her time between working fulltime, being a parent and painting. The paintings are landscapes and flowers exploring colour, texture, shadow, line etc. She is inspired by her immediate environment, local communities, Canadian iconography and the other Canadian artists. Taking pictures on her hikes with her family and black lab dog are often the subject matter for her paintings.
Sandra lives in St George and has 3 kids, husband, dogs, cats and 3 horses boarded close by. She works fulltime as a computer programmer/web developer and paint in the evenings. Enjoys being outside, horseback riding, hiking and other activities. Having a connection to the land and natural systems and elements is important in her art work.
“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
